How Often Should You Replace Brake Pads?

Had car for 3 years has 55,000 kilometers on it... I'd say that's a good mixture of highway and city driving.

I do not hear any squealing or grinding as of yet.

But I've had people complain about my brakes, but they seem fine to me.

So how long is it usually that you replace the brake pads on a car?

ThanksHow Often Should You Replace Brake Pads?look at your fluid level this is the best way to tell if your pads need to be changed, if your low on fluid this indicates wear.I usually change mine between 30 and 40,000 miles. How Often Should You Replace Brake Pads?take the tire off and look at them. But if you don't know anything about cars, wait till they squeel then take them inHow Often Should You Replace Brake Pads?55,000 is usually about the point where the front brakes my be wearing out. The back will last longer usually. If you are concerned, call around and find a shop that does free brake inspections. Most places will check them for free and tell you how close you are to needing them done. How Often Should You Replace Brake Pads? You will just have to have them checked as you may be getting close. I have a 2001 gmc sierra that has 95000 miles and still has the original pads on it and has almost half the pads left as I just checked them when rotating the tires.........ujnHow Often Should You Replace Brake Pads? There is no set time to change the brakes. You should have them inspected every 20,000 miles or so just to be on the safe side.

At 55,000 kilometers (about 34,00 miles) I would take it in asap to have them checked.

If you do them yourself like me just buy them and do them because your not saving much by waiting and it could even cost you more in the long run.

Good luck!
