How much do brake pads and/or discs cost?

my car makes a rubbing/grinding/crunching kind of noise everytime i brake and i can feel it rubbing through the brake pedal. i looked it up online and talked to my stepdad and learned it's probably my brake pads and possibly the brake discs. does anyone know around how much it will cost to have one or both of these replaced? How much do brake pads and/or discs cost?If you're asking what a shop would charge, probably around $300 for a 4 wheel brake job. Give or take some bucks depending on model. How much do brake pads and/or discs cost?Look up the price for pads and rotor on line (Kragen, Autozone, and other stores) to see how much the parts would cost and shipping cost if appropriate. You will get a general idea of the cost for parts.

Because brake job is one of most common job that mechanics encounter, you can telephone around and ask them how much the job would cost, telling them the year and make of your car.

Ask them how much for labor, and how much for labor and parts? Ask what kind of parts do they use, genuine factory, oem, or aftermarket?

After you get the general idea, you can choose and pick your best option.

Good Luck. How much do brake pads and/or discs cost?Depends on the shop rate. Most shops use a flat rate guide and the cost will be labor + parts.

Most people that have a place to work and tools can do the job. The first side will take me about 45 minutes on a car I have not worked on before, the second side, about 10 minutes.

That is if all goes right. But calipers can stick and need replaced, rotors can be worn and ect. If you are doing the job yourself, you will need another car to get the parts.

So the cost for labor will be about 2 hours work.

The price for parts can also very but just the pads will be about 50, and another 50 for rotors.

My guess is around 150$ per axle at an independent shop. How much do brake pads and/or discs cost?Off-shore produced brake rotors cost $25.00 - $30.00.The metallurgy and uniformity of annealing is terrible particularly if you live in northern climates. They rust, pit and warp at an alarming rate. Good solid American, Canadian and rotors from Great Brittan will outlast the cheaper junk 3-1. NAPA and Car Quest premium, AC-Delco, Wagner are all made in the US or Canada. EBC comes from England, They all cost $50. - $65.00 per axle (two wheels) but are well worth it if you plan to keep your car two yrs. or more. As for brake pads any brand ceramic or Organic pads are best because of low dust and stopping power. Neither eat the rotors to death as do metallic and semi-metallic pads. Ceramic pads run between $40. -$60. Top shelf EBC organic Green Stuff pads go for $60.- $70 and never will damage your rotors. An ace wrench can do the complete job in two hrs or less. Figure $60. - $70. per hour for an independant mechanic. Nint! they are most often better than a quick brake stop shop.
