How do I replace Front Brake Pads on My 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro?

i have replaced brake pads on the rear but the front set-up is different. there are 2 giant hex nuts and two bolts. the hex seems to be for the caliper while the bolts for the caliper bracket. which do i remove? i don't see the usual long bolts on the caliper. there are sensors on the pads too. can't find any instructions or pictures anywhere. help!How do I replace Front Brake Pads on My 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro?Here's the best I can do:

Front brakes, servicing (100/A6 models)

Front brake pads, replacing (100/A6 models)





?Remove wheels.

?Mark positions of brake pads that are to be used again.

Install again in same place to ensure uniform braking.



?鈫?Disconnect harness connector by pressing spring (bottom arrow).



?鈫?Remove cap (top arrow) from upper guide pin.

?Carefully lift holding strap up a little from lower part of connector with screwdriver, then turn 90 掳 to right or left and remove from bracket.

?Detach wire for brake pad wear indicator from lower cap.

?Remove lower cap.



?鈫?Pry brake pad retaining spring out of brake caliper housing with screwdriver, and remove.



?鈫?Remove both guide pins from brake caliper.

?Remove brake caliper housing.



CAUTION!

鈼?Do not loosen brake hose or lines.

鈼?Secure the brake caliper with a piece of wire in order to relieve the stress on the brake hose.

鈼?Do not allow the caliper to hang by the brake hose.



?Remove brake pads from brake caliper housing and remove brake pad carrier.



?鈫?Press piston back in brake caliper housing



WARNING!

Brake fluid is poisonous and must never be extracted by mouth through a hose.



CAUTION!

鈼?Extract part of the brake fluid from the brake fluid reservoir before pushing back the pistons.

鈼?Use the bleeder bottle or a plastic bottle, which is used only for brake fluid, for extracting the fluid.

鈼?If this is not done, particularly if the brake fluid has been topped up in the meantime, brake fluid may flow out and cause damage.



?鈫?Install inner brake pad, with brake pad wear indicator wire, in brake caliper housing.

?Install outer brake pad on brake pad carrier.

?Install brake caliper housing with both guide pins on brake pad carrier and torque guide pins.

Tightening torque: 25 Nm (18 ft lb)



?Install both guide pin caps.

?Install lower part of connector in bracket.

?Clip wire for brake pad wear indicator into hook in lower cap and route appropriately.

?Connect harness connector.

?Install retaining spring in brake caliper housing.



Note:

Depress the brake pedal firmly several times while the car is stationary so that the brake pads adjust to their normal operating positions.



Good Luck!How do I replace Front Brake Pads on My 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro?you need to take it to a professional, to replace the pads is one thing and to get them to work properly is another. you may have the front pads done yourself but in a couple of months time you may well have braking pulsation shaky steering wheel and vibrations all caused by inappropriate brake job, the mechanic will measure the thickness of the front discs if they are machinable he will advise to do so if not then pads and discs replacement will be the best option, I've seen allot through the years I know for sure if you want to cut costs GO PRO.How do I replace Front Brake Pads on My 1993 Audi 100 CS Quattro?Dude.... or, girl, if I was you I would get a proffessional... brake pads are tricky... and you gotta test the brakes after you install them.
