How would I replace brake pads on a Chevy S-10 pickup? Please give detailed instructions if you are going to reply. Thanks! How to replace brake pads on a Chevy S-10 pickup?you have to take the wheel off first of all. Then you will see, bolted on to the axle, right over top the brake rotor is the brake caliper, fastened by two bolts that you remove, causing the whole caliper to come loose.next u will see two more bolts of close to the same size holding the brake slider in place.remove them.now u can remove the pads from the slider.before putting the new pads in the slider, take two c-clamps and push both plungers back as far as they go.now, put the new pads in place, bolt the slider onto the caliper, bolt the caliper to the axle mount, and put the wheel back on.How to replace brake pads on a Chevy S-10 pickup? What Rev B said, but two precautions. Make sure you hang the caliper with wire from something so it doesn't pull on the brake line, or else you will be replacing it as well. Suction some of the brake fluid out of the master cylinder before you compress the brake cylinder. When you compress it with a clamp to give you room to put the pads in, it will send brake fluid back to the master cylinder which can overflow all over your engine. Also, don't forget to block a tire so it doesn't roll and use a jack stand for safety. How to replace brake pads on a Chevy S-10 pickup?WHEN you have done all that your first answer has said. you MUST be for you drive the vech push the brake pedal up and down several times be for youget a brake that will stop you ----------------- all so do not work on just a jack put some blocs of wood under a axle so it cant fall on youHow to replace brake pads on a Chevy S-10 pickup?1. Go to an auto parts store and buy A %26quot;Chilton's%26quot; or %26quot;Haynes'%26quot; repair manual for your truck.

2. Buy the pads while you are there.

3. READ the manual at least twice before you lift the wheels of the ground.

4. KEEP the manual in your possession for CONSTANT reference.

5. If possible, recruit someone that has done this before to SHOW you how to do it right. Brakes are the LAST thing you want to do wrong.
