How many miles should new brake pads and rotors last?

I had my front pads and rotors replaced in May '07, as well as the rear pads.

I am starting to feel some vibration in the front when I brake to slow down or stop when going 50 mph and faster. You can really feel on the freeway offramp.

I has been 16,000 miles since this has been replaced. The majority of my miles is freeway driving.

This is on a 1999 Acura 3.2 TLHow many miles should new brake pads and rotors last?pads should last about 30-40K depending on your braking. and rotors (assuming you havent run the pads all the way down) should last about 80How many miles should new brake pads and rotors last? What you are describing is rotor warp and it is a common occurence on nearly all makes/models.

To reduce weight %26amp; increase MPG; manufacturers have made narrower, lighter rotors.

This makes them less able to absorb heat and leads to warp. Unless you bought high priced performance rotors, it's unlikely the shop will do anything. But if you inquire nicely, they might cut them. Outside of performance rotors, try using softer pads, let the pads wear out as opposed to rotors. Smooth, gradual braking pays off as well. How many miles should new brake pads and rotors last?Considering your car is mostly driven on the freeway (little traffic %26amp; hwy speed??) the 16K mile seem very low. You should check if the brakes are binding.

Just remember some driving (low speed / street driving / stop and go) use the brake faster than the hwy speed - no braking.

I live in NYC and I get a good mix of hwy and street driving. I get about 40K miles from my brakes.

Good Luck...How many miles should new brake pads and rotors last?when replacing get ceramic, as they last longest, but i go thru ceramic brakes in about 1-2k miles becuase i stop from 60+ in 20 ft from were there is a light and autozone always replace the pads/rotors for free cause its within the milage warrentyHow many miles should new brake pads and rotors last? They should last about 70k....brakes are very touchy and if you want to learn how to prevent this from happening in the future, feel free to contact me.
