I need to replace brake pads on a Ford KA. How do i remove calliper? how to i retract piston etc will i need much tools? How do I replace brake pads on a Ford KA?I say just buy them for cheap and get someone to fit them on, its not an expensive job.
I got mine from http://www.essexautoparts.co.uk/product/Brake_Pads_%28Front%29_1996_-_2003_1206062-FK11.3How do I replace brake pads on a Ford KA?Loosen wheel nuts on the front wheels, jack the car up via suitable jacking points, rest the car on axel stands and remove any jacks.
Remove the wheels and slide them under the car for now.
If its easier for you, turn the steering all the way to the side of which you choose to work first.
On the calliper there is 2 parts, the part you want to remove should have two 7mm allen key bolts securing it. You will need the specialist 'calliper key' for this, they're about 6.
Remove the top allen key bolt first, and slide out the pads, being careful of any small pieces.
Now, simply with a large flathead screwdriver, a crowbar, anything of similar relevance, push back the piston, it should be quite easy, but if not don't be frightened to give it some force.
Once you have reset the piston, place in the new pads and slot back the second part of the calliper, then replace the allen key bolt at the top and make sure its nice and secure.
Now you have done this, repeat the exact same for the opposite side.
Good luck :)How do I replace brake pads on a Ford KA?hi mate you will need an allen key size six or seven big pair of grips to push the piston back remove the brake fluid top before and replace after the work done dont 4 get to pump the pedal before driving it off anywhere and make sure the carrier is clean and the pads fit nice and free ok hope this helps if unsure get a garage to do it as should take no more than half hour
